Official public opening of the Mittal Orbit attraction at the Olympic Park in Stratford. 

Operators CGS unveiled the landmark sculpture with a colourful parade by children from local schools.

The children assembled beneath the tower and rehearsed their moves complete with decorative banners and a coordinated march.  I was there as a second shooter to my friend Andrew Baker, and our job was to capture the atmosphere for the organisers.

A squad of drummers led the front of the march around the tower and past the Olympic Stadium

The tallest sculpture in the UK, the Mittal Orbit overlooks the Olympic Stadium in East London's Olympic Park, and from its observation platform offers incredible views across the city.

Following the display the children were invited to be the first public guests at the top of the Orbit tower, where they witnessed spectacular  views across London.
